Fifa-Banned Coach Jonathan Bukabakwa Still Training Young Players in DR Congo

Jonathan Bukabakwa, a coach in the Democratic Republic of the Congo banned by Fifa for 20 years in March 2023 for sexual abuse of a minor, is continuing to work with young players. Bukabakwa, also fined 100,000 Swiss francs, had been convicted of similar offences by DRC authorities and was released from prison last year. The case raises serious questions about Fifa's safeguarding processes. A serving 20-year Fifa ban for sexual abuse of a minor has failed to prevent the sanctioned coach from continuing to access and train young players, exposing a significant gap in football's safeguarding enforcement.
