Nigeria Miss Women's World Cup for First Time as South Africa and Ghana Advance

Nigeria have been eliminated from Women's World Cup 2027 qualifying after a 2-1 loss to South Africa at WAFCON 2026. It is the first time the Super Falcons will miss the tournament since its inauguration in 1991. South Africa and Ghana both won their playoff matches to keep their World Cup hopes alive. Nigeria's elimination ends a 36-year record of consecutive Women's World Cup appearances stretching back to the tournament's very first edition in 1991.
